Antonio Gray was born on February 2, 1985 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the first of three children. Antonio has been writing poems, short stories and hip hop rhymes for about 11 years. Drawing on his experiences of his upbringing in Philadelphia, Antonio writes about the daily activities of urban life as well as love. Antonio’s primary topic is the endless topic of love. Antonio’s style allows him to explore love without crossing over, like most poets today, into a world of erotic poetry. Antonio has had to cope with tragedy early in life. At the age of 8, Antonio lost his father, but he turned to writing as a coping mechanism.

His literary style includes diverse influences like e.e. cummings, Langston Hughes, and Shakespeare. Drawing from these influences and his own personal experiences, Antonio continued writing and won the Joesph Rizzello Award for excellence in poetry for his poems “Daily Task” and “Gia and the Ghost”. Following his ambition to be a writer, Antonio decided to self publish his first book Orange Days and Blue Nights from Philadelphia in 2009. Antonio has plans to expand his writing into novels, his own publishing company and, he even wants to make greeting cards. With a book already published and another in the works, Antonio is in a unique position to realize his dreams.
