I have done all kinds of work, I have picked blue berries so fast, At the end of the day I would have a hundred or more in cash, I crop tobacco faster than any motorcycle, I have picked pick so many bushels of tomatoes, If I told you would think it was a fable, I have set out pine trees, Right about now they are taller than a hundred of me, I have raked people's yards and made the deal, When I got to their houses there yards were as large as ten football fields, I have picked so many grapes, Until now grapes I hate, That I know I pick for every country farmer, I have done all kinds of work, But to pick in a cotton field, I would never make that deal.

Brothers From Other Mothers
We weren’t born from the same seed But we are truly brothers indeed If you have a problem and you think I can help you solve it Call a brother before you try to dodge it To the black, brown, white and yellow All of mankind are my fellow brothers If you pull off the skin and look within All of our veins pump red blood my friend Let me be the first if you can hear We are all brother in God's eyes and that's for real So let’s get it right whether its day or night If you see like I see Please? In this world we can’t make it alone It’s not conceived If we can’t love one another Let’s just deal with each other - Jimmy Simmons - Brothers From Other Mothers is featured in My Mind Over Time
Under my skin there is a dog fight going on To see who will win They is free dog a caged dog and a host dog The free dog fights with the caged dog over and over again The free dog goes and does as he wills He comes back And the caged dog he tries to kill This is a battle that is going on all the time Not only in my body But also in my mind Even though the caged dog is caged He still has his winning days The free dog knows he has the advantage He really starts stuff when he panics The caged dog knows the free dog really needs help So he holds him down until he weep The host dog that just stand by and watches these guys He only jumps in When one is pent down for the ten count I have a feeling this battle will rage on Until one of these dogs takes over this body they call home. - Jimmy Simmons - Dog Fight is featured in My Mind Over Time
I Must Have Your Love Back You and I have come to a path in the road, Where our eyes are the windows to our souls, Gleaming passion lasting reaction, Running afraid in these difficult days, Things happening like high soaring waves, No way to respond almost out of time cannot rewind, Mind seems blank most of the time, We must get back to where we shine, Is love the case? Or will we create another way to face this feeling in its place, The past and the future as they are of one mind, Running like a river on a warm day in the sunshine, To claim back what has diminished slowly but surely, Will be a hard task, But whatever time we have we will make this come to pass and last. - Jimmy Simmons - I Must Have Your Love Back is featured in My Mind Over Time

Angel's I Know
Angel's are real I know First hand My heart gave me a chance too Deal with this man I never saw him, But I know he was there, because my heart could see him everywhere My heart would call me, To get him, To make him go, But my heart said don't hurt him, Because it's a lot he knows, I ran, And I chase him, And still never saw him, But I know he was there, Because my spirit said so. So when in doubt, if you save are not, Stop, let go, and let God, And then you will surely know, How life should really go. LORD I THANK YOU

Back To A King
Baptized in the funk, Who gives a funk about you? Or what you want. I'm going on in the world, Because I got a little girl So I know ain't sterile, I got a lot to live for, So don't step In our World This is the voice you hear, you pick this choice for Your ear For the new generation, ancestors from funking “Slaveation” From a slave back to a king, let it ring from the Guda to the manifestation So I be branching off in a new direction that's Perfection Angry is the pass, I think the best choice means Cash So I figure out what's wrong, and getting deeper In my daughter's life, so she can carry my legacy on

It was a special day when my little girl came into my world I wasn't in sight with her everyday growing up from a child of play Nor in her teens but our hearts were always in between We don't have to see each other every day to know that my love for my daughter will never sway From the first time I saw her coming out of her mother's womb I knew she would be a big part of my life as she grew and bloomed February fourth, nineteen ninety one I was blessed I must say I got a very special gift from God that day And I knew right then that my life would never be the same way She weighed about eight pounds ten ounces Perfect size for knee bouncing When I first saw her my eyes they would glow At that moment I truly felt blessed for sho' She looked at me And I look at her We bonded at that moment right there As I have watched her grow from a baby into a young lady Now I realize why I was put in this world One big reason was to take care of my little girl That she may come through God's front door My baby girl whom I adore I LOVE YOU
