Recently, 2 Pens & Lint's own,
Henry Duncan, had a chance to ask Joe Thomas a
few questions concerning his writing style, his literary influences, and his new
release, Love & Lust.
Henry Duncan:
How would you describe yourself?
Joe Thomas: An intelligent man "trapped in
a world of sin longing for romance."
HD: Who are your literary
influences?
JT: The Bible; Shakespeare; Saul Williams;
Phillip Larkin
HD: How would you describe
your writing style?
JT: I would
describe my writing style as one big alliterated thought.
HD: The poems in your book
were based on dreams. What made you decide to make them into poems?
JT: What better
way to describe a beautiful dream than poetry?
HD: Other than your dreams
what inspires you to write?
JT: Nature and
my conscience.
HD: Your book is broken
down into 2 parts; love and lust. Why?
JT: The first
part of the book consists of dreams of Love transformed into poems. The second
consists of dreams of Lust transformed into poems as well.
HD:
This is your first published book which means this will
be the start of your legacy. When you're finished with your career as a poet
what do you want your legacy to be?
JT:
I want people to say that I brought fantasy to life through unforgettable poems
with words that were pleasing to and soft on the
ear.
