Voices 2: An Emotional Tribute to the Civil Rights Movement By Maria Tomasinni

Natalia Maria was a member of the Burlington County poets and the International Poetry society. She is an award winning poet and is published in several poetry books like; America’s Most Beloved Poets. This is her second published book of poetry. Her first book of poetry was: Between the Shadows and the Flames. She was nominated as one of the best New International Poets of the Year.
She also participated in a program with the Burlington poets at a psychiatric Hospital reading and teaching how to write poetry patients. She often times collaborated with art therapists to assist patients to express their selves by giving voice to a picture and vice versa. She was able to draw on her experience as a psycho therapist to assist people to connect with their feelings and to express their emotions using artistic means; such as poetry and the combination of art and poetry. Natalia’s education made her interested in using poetry in a therapeutic setting with, people recovering from addictions, with incarcerated individuals and with psychiatric patients who were preparing for discharge from an inpatient hospital.
Natalia has been actively involved in the peace movement and attended the largest Peace movement in Holland. She continues her activism by attending lectures at the United Nations in New York City on creating a culture of peace and empowering women in leadership worldwide; women, peace and security. She is a former member of the NGO Peace caucus and she supports the Ctaun-Committee on teaching about the United Nations. She assisted in creating a school in Haiti. The school was named in memorial to her aunt's husband, a pacivist, Dr. Gerald Oster, Ph.D.
She is a graduate of Temple University with a Bachelors of Science (BS), and Master of Science (MS) Degrees; in addition she continued post graduate studies in educational supervision. She studied to become as LDTC; She is a Certified Learning Disabilities Teacher's Consultant with the State of NJ.
Natalia completed Johns Hopkins University’s Alcohol Counseling certification program. She worked as an psychotherapist in the Prison System.
